Malaysian racing driver Weiron Tan is pleased to announce he will compete with Aylezo Ecotint Racing in the prestigious 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series.

The Asian Le Mans Series was founded by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, which is the creator and organiser of numerous major motoring events including the Le Mans 24 Hours, the American Le Mans Series and the European Le Mans Series. The Asian Le Mans Series sees competitors taking part in the following categories: LMP2, LMP3, GT, GT Cup and CN

Weiron will be taking on the LMP3 category with the Aylezo Ecotint Racing team, which will see him form a driver partnership with Zen Low. Aylezo Ecotint Racing is one of the most successful Malaysian racing teams, having won races in every series they’ve competed in. This year, the team competed at the highest level in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia and the Asian Le Mans Series. The team objective for the forthcoming season is to win the championship in order to gain an invitation to race at famous Le Mans 24 Hours.

Weiron has raced competitively in Europe and American single-seaters over the past six years. He is a race winner in the 2015 Pro Mazda Series, having claimed four wins last season and a total of six podiums on his way to fourth in the overall standings.  Previous to Pro Mazda, Weiron raced in German F3, scoring two victories at the end of his German F3 campaign, having graduated at the start of the season as vice champion from the Formula Renault BARC championship.

Talking about the upcoming challenge, Tan said, “The forthcoming Asian Le Mans Series is a great new step in my career and I thank Zen and Aylezo Racing for this opportunity. We are racing at some incredible circuits and I am very proud to undertake this challenge with a Malaysian team. The race in Zhuhai cannot come around fast enough and I am looking forward to racing with Zen and aiming together for the championship crown.”

Aylezo Racing founder Zen Low said: “I am very happy to welcome Weiron to Aylezo Ecotint Racing. He has achieved some excellent race results in Europe and America and I am pleased to now look ahead to racing alongside a fellow Malaysian in the Asian Le Mans Series. We are very focused on becoming the first Malaysian team to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I believe we have the talent and skills to compete hard against the strong team line-up in this championship. I cannot wait to take to the track in Zhuhai with Weiron and lay down our championship challenge.”

The first round of the Asian Le Mans Series starts on October 28th at Zhuhai, China.
