Following over a decade of running Championship winning single-seater teams for Euronova Racing, in 2015 Vincenzo Sospiri will join the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo with two new Huracán ST cars. Vincenzo Sospiri Racing will also run the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Formula Junior Team in Formula 4.
The drivers for the Formula 4 programme will be announced in March following a selection process which will be overseen by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Vincenzo Sospiri.
Vincenzo Sospiri (VSR): I’m pleased to announce this new project which will be run from my premises in Forli (Italy) alongside the single seater teams which we run for Euronova Racing. I have been evaluating a move into the GT category for some time now and this opportunity with Automobili Lamborghini allows me to build a credible career ladder for young drivers looking to move from single seaters in order to become professional GT drivers. I’m honoured to have been given the chance by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Giorgio Sanna to run the Junior team for them in Formula 4 and I am sure that the collaboration will result in the discovery of some exciting new talents. I have already been in touch with drivers for both the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and the Formula 4 teams and have received a lot of good feedback and interest.
Giorgio Sanna (Lamborghini Squadra Corse): Promoting and supporting young drivers is a top priority for Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Following the success of the “young drivers program” in the Super Trofeo in 2014, for 2015 we have decided to extend this strategy by supporting the VSR team in Formula 4 with the aim of selecting young Formula drivers who have the ambition to become professional racers. Thanks to the decades of experience that Vincenzo Sospiri has as a talent scout and team manager I am sure we will be able to find young hopefuls to enter the world of GT racing under the Lamborghini Squadra Corse banner. I am happy to welcome Vincenzo and his team into the Lamborghini family and into the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.
