Scuderia Villorba Corse is forced to skip the first round of the European Le Mans Series scheduled on April 10-11 at Silverstone. Italian team joined the LMP3 category with racing drivers Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto but is still waiting for the delivery of the brand new Ginetta-Nissan prototype from the British car manufacturer. The team led by Raimondo Amadio will make its 2015 ELMS debut in the home round at Imola on May 16-17. Only five LMP3 prototypes will be on track at Silverstone. The new sporting regulation sets that four results out of five will be considered for the championship standings.
Amadio, Team Principal, commented: “The team was ready for its ELMS debut. Unfortunately our prototype is not yet available so we have to postpone everything to Imola. It did not depend on us, the team is hoping to have the Ginetta-Nissan LMP3 as soon as possible. The car is new and we need time to test it. We were pressing the manufacturer and there were hopes to be ready for the first round but after some issues with the rear of the car in the last few days it is better to make the most of the new regulation, also planning an appropriate test programme before Imola, rather than go to Silverstone without any knowledge and experience about the new prototype”.
