Audi R8 LMS Cup returned after around two months since last race in Korea, with the third meeting of the season in Taiwanese track of Penbay International Circuit. This track, built in 2011, represents a new incorporation inside the selection of tracks that compound the calendar of R8 LMS Cup that never was visited before by this championship series.
Danish racing driver Thomas Fjordbach sponsored by Federal-Mogul Motorparts arrived at the circuit full of confidence “This weekend it’s important because we have 3 races. We have been working in Blancpain GT Series for preparing the next races in Asia and I arrive here satisfied with the training and focused on achieving a good result for the championship.”

The first race of the weekend was on Saturday and full of action in Penbay track, a combative Thomas Fjordbach smartly gained positions in the rolling start. After the first corners the Aalborg driver was placed the fourth and an accident in front permitted him to up one position. He controlled the gap after and before him all the race until the end, getting an important P3 for him championship aims.
Sunday was the crucial day in Taiwan for Audi R8 LMS Cup drivers with two more races to made. The first one was on the morning, and Fjordbach started full of confidence with the car and the track.
Unfortunately his leading start ended early in the first lap, due and impact that Mortara gave him. This bad luck ruined a possible win with a final retirement. “It was sad because we really want to fight for it on the track, but this kind of things happened in races. This victory places Fjordbach in second position in overall standings, at only four points of the leading.
