Tomy Drissi is back with BAR1 Motorsports for round four of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on the 2.35-mile 14-turn street course of Belle Isle situated in Detroit River. Tomy will share the driving duties with Johnny Mowlem No. 20 Jason Bourne / Southwest Funding ORECA for Saturday afternoon’s 100-minute Chevrolet Sports Car Classic. This is the second street course on the schedule and also a 100 minute sprint.

“I love coming to the Motor City,” said Tomy. “I always have a great time driving with BAR1 and Johnny Mowlem and racing on the island is beautiful. And the fans are totally into the race. It’s Detroit… these people know their cars.”

“I’m also thrilled to be teaming up with Universal Pictures to promote the latest Jason Bourne movie opening July 29,” added Tomy. “People have been waiting for this one, so I’m really proud that Universal has chosen to work with us in promoting the movie.”

“I would like to announce a special logo on the car this weekend. We’ll be supporting and bringing awareness to the GBS | CDIP Foundation International,” Tomy continued. “Guillain-Barré (Ghee-yan Bah-ray) Syndrome is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. GBS came to public attention briefly when it struck a number of people who received the 1976 swine flu vaccine.  Although not in the news as much today, it continues to claim thousands of new victims each year, striking any one at any age, regardless of gender or ethnic background.”

On track action from Belle Isle, Detroit begins on Friday, June 3rd with practice. WeatherTech Championship Qualifying will begin with all classes running individually starting at 5:05pm EST on Friday.

The Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers will begin at 12:40pm EST on Saturday, June 4th and will be televised LIVE on Fox Sports 1.
