The development of the Ligier JS P217 follows the road map decided by the ACO, the FIA and IMSA for the four constructors selected to build the new LM P2s. Next week, the first Ligier JS P217 chassis will be subjected to the crash tests imposed by the regulations. When this crucial first hurdle has been overcome, the production and assembly of a complete Ligier JS P217 will take place, and in August the engine supplied by Gibson Technology will be installed in the car and on-track testing will begin.“The construction of the Ligier JS P217 is going ahead at full speed. It’s very exciting to follow a project like this starting with the first sketches of the design, the first CAD files that appear on the screen, then the CFD studies and the wind tunnel work as well as the creation of the model and the arrival of the first body shell. In the very near future we’re going to begin the assembly of chassis no. 1 in our Le Mans workshops; it’ll be used for development on the track. You always feel very intense emotions when you see the birth of a new car and watch its shakedown.

Jacques Nicolet, President of Onroak Automotive : “We experienced this joy with the Ligier JS P2 in 2014 and again in 2015 with the Ligier JS P3, and the results scored by these cars since then have only served to make this feeling all the more intense! Today, we’re very proud of the Ligier JS P3’s first victory in the United States!

“June is a very important month for all endurance fans and a very busy one for those taking part in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Again this year we’ll be very well represented in LM P2 with nine Ligier JS P2s, the model with the highest number of cars on the grid, and two Morgan LM P2s. We’re going to be up against very tough opposition in the LM P2 category, which has attracted a bumper entry of twenty-three cars. Our customer support service will be busy following our teams in LM P2, and also in LM P3 in which around twenty Ligier JS P3s are expected for the curtain-raiser, Road to Le Mans.”
