The Heart of Racing driversMario Farnbacher (Germany) and Alex Riberas (Spain) are ready for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Continental Tire Road Race Showcase to run at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, August 5-7.

The long and undulating four-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit located an hour north of Milwaukee is a driver favorite. The Heart of Racing team comes into the weekend looking for lost points from a disappointing finish at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago. Farnbacher and Riberas are still very much in the GTD championship picture. The duo is third in the driver standings with 187, just 25 out of the top spot.

“Road America is one of my favorite tracks anywhere,” Farnbacher said. “The new Porsche GT3R has more downforce than last year’s car so it will be even more fun to drive this weekend. The BOP (balance of performance) at the moment is a big shame. We are, at the moment, the slowest car out there, especially down the straights. The only reason why we are in the front is the quality of our team and always giving 150% in the car, meanwhile the car is performing at 80%.”

“I think Road America seems to be one of those race tracks where you feel the pure bliss of driving a Porsche 911 GT3R,” Riberas said. “It has absolutely everything a great circuit needs, from extremely fast corners, to more technical areas and of course many long straights with several overtaking opportunities. I’m very much looking forward to it. It reminds me a little of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. That’s the longest track I have ever raced in Europe and I’ve heard Road America feels similar. I can’t wait to find out.”

“Mario and Alex are motivated to have a good weekend at Road America,” Alex Job, team owner, said. “Everyone was disappointed about what happened at Lime Rock. Once again Alex will be learning a new circuit. I just hope we can stay close down those long Road America straights with the way the BOP is at the moment.”
