The North American International Motor Show, more commonly known as the Detroit Motor Show, opened yesterday, Monday 12th January. A delegation from the ACO led by its president Pierre Fillon is attending this event.

Pierre Fillon, the President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, is accompanied at the North American International Motor Show (NAIAS) by Vincent Beaumesnil, the ACO Sport Manager, and by Gérard Neveu, General Manager of the FIA World Endurance Championship of which the ACO is the promoter and organiser.

Today, Tuesday 13th January (at 13h25 local time, 19h25 in France), they will hold a press conference devoted to the FIA WEC in general, and the North American round in particular. The Lone Star Le Mans meeting (19th September 2015) will host two Le Mans-type races: the 11th round of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship (TUSC), and the fifth of the 2015 World Endurance Championship.

Thus, the Detroit Motor Show provides the Automobile Club de l’Ouest with the ideal opportunity to meet its partners in the capital of the North American Motor Car starting with Jim France (NASCAR Vice-President), Ed Bennett (IMSA Executive Director) and Scott Atherton (President and Operations Manager of the TUSC Championship), as well as the different players in the car industry and the press during the biggest motor show in the United States.

This year the Detroit Motor Show, which will close its doors on 25th January, is hoping to beat the 2014 record crowd attendance figure (803 000 visitors).

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest: “In the wake of the Le Mans 24 Hours, which enjoy uncontested international renown, we never stop working on the development worldwide of Le Mans-type endurance racing thanks to the FIA World Endurance Championship and continental series like the Tudor United SportsCar Championship in North America. The Detroit Motor Show is the ideal place to meet the major players in the car industry and to reinforce endurance racing, a future-oriented branch of motor sport, whose attraction for the major manufacturers continues to grow.”
