Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Official Driver Mike Simpson are set to give the factory-run Ginetta Prototype its first outing in the V de V Championship at Paul Ricard, on 28-30 August.

The Ginetta Prototype has been making waves on the international stage this year. In LMP3 trim it is still the only car to have turned a wheel in competition, and Team LNT are currently class leaders in both the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Teams and Drivers Championships.

The four hour V de V endurance encounter will enable the team to continue their development of the Ginetta Prototype, as well as garner crucial data ahead of the ELMS visit to the same track next month.

Simpson, who is currently dovetailing a season in the European Le Mans Series with an entry in British GT said; “I am looking forward to being back alongside Lawrence for the V de V. We had some great success in the series in our Ginetta G55 GT3 car last year, where our development year saw us bring home a number of pole positions as well as some silverware.

“The track time will be crucial ahead of my ELMS race at the same venue in three weeks’ time, but will also provide some preparation for a full European race programme for Lawrence Tomlinson in 2016.”

A former class winner at the Le Mans 24 Hours, Tomlinson has been heavily involved in the development of the Ginetta Prototype. Making his first competitive appearance since taking a class podium at the Britcar 24 Hour in April, the Ginetta boss said; “This weekend is all about continuing the development of the car and having fun in a brilliantly run and friendly series.

“We have fantastic facilities available to us at Ginetta, but there’s no better place to get insight than at the track. This circuit time will inevitably assist us in our preparations for Round Five of the ELMS, but as always, Mike and I will be aiming to be on the top step of the podium once again.”

No stranger to V de V, Tomlinson and Simpson enjoyed much success in the championship in 2014. Running their factory Ginetta G55 GT3 car in the series, the team enjoyed more pole positions than any other marque and a race win at Dijon.
