JRM Racing PRO Driver and Coach, Craig Dolby, put his performance driving skills to good use away from the race track recently when he was recruited as a stunt driver on the latest Mission: Impossible film.

The 27-year-old is competing in a NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 this season as part of JRM’s driver line up in the Blancpain GT Series (pictured below). However, a chance meeting with the stunt co-ordinator working on the $150 million Hollywood blockbuster landed Craig a unique opportunity to work alongside superstars like Tom Cruise (pictured above).

“My meeting with Wade Eastwood came completely out of the blue while I was at a track in the UK but we got on well and, once he found out about my driving background, he asked me whether I’d like to come and work on Mission Impossible,” Craig explained. “It was the chance of a lifetime so I said ‘yes’ straight away.”

Craig joined a five-strong team of stunt drivers working on Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and spent more than a month filming on location in Morocco. While on location, one of his roles was to double as British acting star Simon Pegg behind the wheel.

“I was asked to do all sorts of driving – from dangerous stunts to more straightforward high performance stuff,” Craig said. “It was huge fun and everything went really well. But it was very bizarre to be rubbing shoulders with people like Tom Cruise! I was pretty star-struck for the first couple of days.”

Craig was unable to attend the pre-screening of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation last month as he and JRM team-mates Sean Walkinshaw and Martin Plowman were racing at the Spa 24hrs, but he has been to the cinema since to see himself in action on the Big Screen.

“That was a very surreal experience,” he said. “But I’m hugely proud to have been involved in such a massive cinematic production and to have put my driving skills and experience to good use in a completely different environment away from the race track.”

Craig is a key part of JRM’s Driver Development Programme. As well as driving the NEW Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, he is also a mentor to Sean Walkinshaw in JRM’s Blanpain GT Series programme. The team will return to Sprint action at Portimao, Portugal on 4-6 September.
