Ahead of its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring next month, Strakka Racing rolled out its latest Gibson 015S chassis today at Turweston Airfield.  Jonny Kane completed systems checks following the final assembly of the chassis over the past two weeks at Strakka’s Silverstone workshop. The Gibson 015S replaces Strakka’s S103 chassis that will now be used for the development of its 2017 LMP1 challenger, and enables the team to continue racing for the balance of the 2015 season.

“The Gibson went together well and as a proven car, we didn’t experience any issues during build up and this initial running,” says technical director Jay Davenport. “We now go straight to the Nürburgring test on the 26th July before returning to UK to paint it and apply the livery ahead of the race weekend.”

With the Gibson’s heritage in the Zytek GZ09S, a car that Strakka Racing ran in 2009, the team is aiming to get up to speed quickly with the latest chassis. “Some parts of the car are familiar and the engine is carry over from the S103,” adds Davenport. “We’ve got some learning with the electronics and aero but we should be able to start work on this at the test.

Drivers Nick Leventis, Jonny Kane and Danny Watts will all drive the car at the Nürburgring test next week.
