The Spa weekend highlighted the true camaraderie of the World Endurance Championship with practically every driver together with multiple Le Mans winners Jacky Ickx and Allan McNish signing a board wishing team principal Dan Walmsley’s premature baby Esme well. “Strakka Racing is literally overwhelmed by the support from the World Endurance Championship,” says team founder and driver Nick Leventis. “The kind messages were warmly appreciated by Dan, his family and all of us at Strakka Racing. Our thanks go out to everyone, especially the Dailysportscar team for its help today, it was an incredible gesture.”

On track, solid consistency ensured Strakka Racing leaves Spa provisionally in fourth position in both the LMP2 Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship after its DOME S103 ran faultlessly for the entire six hours, finishing sixth in the P2 class. Demonstrating once again the impressive reliability of the LMP2 car, the team heads to the upcoming Le Mans 24 hours confident of the car’s durability whilst acknowledging it needs to unlock more pace in the dry.

“Spa is considered a weekend to prepare for Le Mans and we’ve shown again that we have the reliability sorted, with the car not missing a beat through the whole weekend,” says driver Jonny Kane. “Our pace is good in the wet but we’ve got some work to do in the dry.”

“We need and will keep pushing the development where we can,” adds technical director Jay Davenport. “We will revise the aero specifically for Le Mans which should close the gap there and we’ll look at every aspect to find some more time.”

Strakka Racing’s next scheduled outing will be the Le Mans Test Day on the 31st May and will announce plans for the signed board at an appropriate time in the near future.
