Great contender in the Porsche Carrera Cup France those past four seasons, the Sébastien Loeb Racing discovered the Porsche Supercup last year, taking part in three rounds. Willing to compete against the best squads internationally, the Alsace-based team took to the track for the first time in 2015 in Barcelona, with Joffrey de Narda and Roar Lindland and will enter two other races in a few months in Spa (August 21st-23rd) and Monza (September 4th-6th). In Belgium, both Sébastien Loeb and the Norwegian driver will be racing under the colours of the team.
Sébastien Loeb : “A pleasure to be back with everybody in the team!”
Though the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) remains Sébastien Loeb’s main objective, the French driver is still seeking more on-track experience, all the more when he has an opportunity to do so within his own team. Nine-time Rally World Champion, he will be on the starting grid of the Supercup in Spa-Francorchamps (August 21st-23rd). A perfect meeting as he explains: “I’m garnering more and more experience on track though I still don’t have as much as my WTCC rivals. We just keep on learning! That was definitely true in rally, that is even more so now on track and it is the case generally speaking in motorsport. This race in Supercup is therefore a new opportunity for me to gain extra experience, to discover new things, sometimes it’s just a matter of details. I know that the pack will be tough with me and that’s actually when it becomes interesting. I’m very happy to get the chance to race for the Sébastien Loeb Racing. It has so rarely been the case and I know that it’ll be a pleasure to be back with everybody in the team again and to compete together with Roar who is really experienced in that discipline and has a strong knowledge of it.”
Sébastien Loeb is not a rookie in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. In addition to several entries in France, with two wins in the Pau Grand Prix, he also participated in two rounds of the Porsche Supercup in 2013, in Barcelona and Monaco. His car will have a brand new aspect in Spa, with fresh graphics showing, amongst others, the support of Nikko, radio-controlled cars specialist.
Team boss and driver Sébastien will be racing with teammate Roar Lindland who has been a Sébastien Loeb Racing’s driver for two seasons. The Norwegian is a true expert: Scandinavian GT3-Cup Champion in 2012, he has competed in Supercup on a regular basis since 2013 and finished runner-up in B-class in the Porsche Carrera Cup France 2014. After Barcelona, Roar will be on the track again in Spa and Monza.
“Those three races fit in the line of what we’ve been trying to build since last year with the Sébastien Loeb Racing” Roar says. “The goal is to continue on improving so that we can keep on aiming for the best results. Besides the French programme, it will be interesting to participate in the Supercup again, especially in terms of pace. It was already the case in Barcelona and I want to keep that good momentum. I’m starting to really get familiar with all the circuits now and I hope to do better than the year before. It’s an honour for me to race alongside Sébastien. I remember us pitting against each other in 2013 and the way he had adapted to that car that he was only discovering, with so much ease, had impressed me a lot at the time. It will be very enriching to work with him and to share his vision of the race. I’m looking forward to it!”
In addition to the four Porsche 911 GT3 Cup entered in the Porsche Carrera Cup France, the Sébastien Loeb Racing will participate in three rounds of the Porsche Supercup, entering two cars each time.
