Following the success of last year’s inaugural running in the current format, the Hankook 12H EPILOG BRNO (October 14-16, 2016) will be extended to a full-blown 24-hour race for this year. Thus, the official name of the race will be Hankook 24H EPILOG BRNO. Instead of from midday till midnight on Saturday, October 15, the race will now be held from midday on Saturday till midday on Sunday, October 16, with further details to be announced in due course. The news was announced at Circuit Paul Ricard, where the Hankook 24H CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD, the fifth round of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook, is taking place this weekend. Thus, the number of 24-hour races in this year’s series will be expanded to four, after Dubai, Circuit Paul Ricard and Barcelona.

“When we announced the calendar for this year, we already included the possibility of upgrading our race at Brno to a duration of 24 hours,” says Helen Roukens on behalf of CREVENTIC, the Dutch agency that is the promoter and organiser of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook in co-operation with the Dutch National Racing Team (DNRT). “This is a unique opportunity, because not too many circuits offer the possibility to run a 24-hour race. The step was made following requests from many drivers, who wanted to race at Brno for 24 hours, and a survey among our regularly participating teams led to a majority of positive answers.”

Speaking on behalf of the Automotodrom Brno circuit management, Jana Božková is equally enthusiastic: “Everybody at the circuit has made a lot of effort to make this happen. After the success of last year’s event, we are really looking forward to this year’s race.” Last year’s running of the event marked the revival of the popular EPILOG end-of-season endurance race at the Automotodrom Brno. With the race run in the dark for several hours, it immediately became clear that the Brno circuit is perfectly suited to host a 24-hour race as well and thanks to a constructive approach and the strong commitment by everyone involved, this vision could now be turned into reality.

CREVENTIC’s Helen Roukens continues: “Teams having already submitted their entry for the race at Brno and already having paid their entry fee will not be faced with additional costs for their entry fee. For all other teams, we have announced a revised entry fee that is an average between the fee for a 12-hour race and the one for a 24-hour race, so it is still a considerably reduced fee compared to other 24-hour races.” Like all the other races of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook, the race will be broadcast on Motors TV with live-streaming in HD quality on the series’ website.
