The traditional Awards Dinner and Ceremony of the International GT Open took place Saturday evening in the Salon Belle Epoque of the Hotel Hermitage in Montecarlo and was attended by Carlos Gracia, the Vice-President of the FIA.
In the usual relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the GT Open, the winners were handed their trophies. Nicolas Misslin (JMB Racing) and Ronnie Kessel (Kessel Racing) represented the winning squads in their respective categories, Scratch and GTS. The GTS Champions, Lorenzo Bontempelli and Stefano Gattuso were crowned among Drivers, with Autorlando’s Fabio Babini took his trophy of 3rd classified and the one of the vice-champion, his team-mate Gianluca Roda, as the Italian was being awarded at the same time in Stuttgart the Porsche Cup he won for the second year in a row.
Marco Frezza (3rd Overall), Emanuele Moncini and Andrea Montermini (Vice-Champions) were then called on stage, with the 2011 International GT Open Champion, Soheil Ayari, receiving the top honours from the hands of Carlos Gracia and Jesús Pareja.
In a short address, FIA Vice-President Carlos Gracia expressed his “satisfaction to see the International GT Open reaching the quality and visibility it has reached in the international scene”. The 2011 Champion, Soheil Ayari, commented: “I am particularly happy to win the GT Open title and to have discovered such a beautiful and pleasant championship, where I hope to be back in 2012″.
