A new team will submit an entry in the LMP2 category for the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. This newcomer is HS Technik Motorsport, an Austrian team, which was racing until now in the German Formula 3 Championship. The team has claimed the Formula 3 drivers title last year thanks to Frenchman Tom Dillmann who was driving a Dallara Volkswagen.

If the team is quite new in endurance racing, his Team Manager is not. Ietoshi Kaneko is well known in the paddocks. He was heading, among other campaigns, the Dome Mader entry during the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans. Austrian Martin Steffl, Kaneko’s longstanding fellow, will be operating as the team Crew Chief.

HS Technik Motorsport and Ietoshi Kaneko have chosen the Nissan unit which has been a proven winner in the LMP2 category during the last season. Ietoshi Kaneko has been recently in Japan at NISMO headquarters. The chassis will be a OAK Pescarolo LMP2, the team becoming the second customer of the French racing car manufacturer after United Autosports.

The team is currently considering several drivers for next year.
