Could the 6 Hours of Imola, third round of the “Le Mans Series”, be the meeting for revenge? Probable. Having frequented the Top 3 in the GT category during the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, ProSpeed Competition quite proved it ambitions. The Belgian team’s package on hand in Italy looks to be more powerful than the one at the beginning of the year. Marc Goossens and Marco Holzer, the drivers defending the CPL Trans anf GrafiWrap colours, intend to take full advantage of this and cash in on the performances of their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR #75.
The ProSpeed Competition car has systematically imposed itself as one of the fastest of the Porsche cars in the “Le Mans Series”. A statement which does not appear when one reads the “overall” results. In Imola, the major priority of the Goossens-Holzer duo is to appear in an excellent position on the results sheet, on Sunday 3rd July at 18.00hrs.
The sporting viewpoint: Rudi Penders (Team Principal)
“On paper the package with which we will be sporting in the Pô valley should provide improved performance as opposed to what we had at our disposal in Spa. It gives us great confidence. ProSpeed Competition entered the “Le Mans Series” with as sole ambition that of a great performance and victory. We need to carry on working in order to reach these objectives. Today there are still various steps to be taken. One of these is to get the better of those red cars. At Imola they are on home ground.”
The technical viewpoint: Marc Goossens (Driver)
“Motivation plays a major role in a driver’s “technical” preparation. However, I suddenly realised that this is the one point that I have been working on… the last since the beginning of this year. Our efforts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Marco {Holzer} and Jaap {van Lagen}, followed by our great victory with Maxime {Soulet} at Spa are of a nature to further increase my motivation. The understanding with Marco could not be better. He just like me are raring to get going. We have reference points at Imola. These should help us to cash in on our commitment to achieve a result.”
The driver’s viewpoint: Marco Holzer (Driver)
“We are the first Porsche team in the championship rankings; however our position doesn’t please me. It does not give a true picture of our level of performance. We have the means with which to battle for a place on the LM GTE Pro podium. And as a driver don’t talk to me about anything else than a podium. Imola is an atypical circuit. I love it. We discovered it at the beginning of the season during private practice sessions with ProSpeed Competition. It’s now up to us to take full advantage.”
Recently elected “Best Technical Team” at the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, ProSpeed Competition has a very heavy programme in sight: the « Le Mans Series », the European Championship FIA GT3, the 24 Hours of Spa and the Belcar Endurance Championship.
