Autorlando Sport today announced its leading GTS category for the 2011 International GT Open: Italy’s Gianluca Roda and Fabio Babini will drive the first of the two Porsche 911 GT3R that the Bergamo-based squad of Orlando Redolfi will enter in the GTS class. The other team will be announced shortly.

After being an overall runner-up in the series in the last three seasons, 51-year-old Gianluca Roda has decided to switch to GT3, a category that has seen him taking the Italian title in 2010. The Como-born driver, who also conquered last year the prestigious Porsche Cup, will have a new team-mate, Fabio Babini.

Babini clearly belongs to the elite of international GT racing, having raced Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins and Lamborghinis in a variety of series, and will make his oficial debut in the GT Open. The 41-year-old from Faenza can claim GT wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona (2000) and Le Mans (2001) and 4 wins in the FIA-GT, of which he was a vice-champion in 2004.

No doubt that the Italian pair will be a very serious title contender!
