The Quifel-ASM Team is due on the Paul Ricard Circuit, in France, to carry out its first official tests of the Ginnetta-Zytek 09s, the car that will race for the Portuguese team in the Le Mans Series Championship, in the LMP2 class.

One of the highlights of Quifel’s tests on the French track is the presence of Guy Smith, who won the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2003. The English driver will this year represent the Quifel-ASM Team in the Le Mans 24 Hour race due to be held on 13th and 14th June in which only the best Le Mans Series teams take part.

This weekend Guy Smith will join drivers Miguel Pais do Amaral and Olivier PLa to test the Ginnetta-Zytek 09s, the car which is replacing the Lola B04/AER this year. Quifel plans to take advantage of the occasion to try out the new Zytek factory engine, and to carry out tests to adapt to the car’s new aerodynamics.

António Simões, the team’s director said that “this year’s expectations are high and we are confident that the Zytek will be quite a competitive car in the LMP2 class. In these first official tests we will have the privilege of testing the new factory-mounted engine, a novelty that has arisen from our close involvement with Zytek, which means that this weekend official technicians from the prestigious British brand will also be at Paul Ricard.”

The QUIFEL-ASM Team, which will compete in the LMP2 class, is the only Portuguese team taking part in the Le Mans Series championship, which provides access to the Le Mans 24 Hour race. The first race is scheduled for 4th April on the Catalonia circuit in Barcelona.
