For entrants who want to take part in the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours (12th – 13th June), the time for sending in entry forms is approaching. Here are the criteria decided by the ACO, which include several innovations.
Entry forms should be sent to the ACO between Monday 21st December 2009 and Wednesday 20th January 2010.
• Teams that have already won their invitation for the Le Mans 24 Hours in the ALMS, LMS and Asian Le Mans Series, FIA GT and Michelin Green X Challenge are automatically selected, but must confirm their entry by letter before 11th January 2010. For them, category changes cancel the automatic invitation and their inclusion will be decided by the Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee will meet under the authority of Mr. Jean-Claude Plassart, the ACO President, at the end of January to draw up the list of 55 entries.
• As announced at the Nürburgring 1000kms teams that have competed in 2009 in full in one or more of the Le Mans Series (ALMS, LMS, Asian Le Mans Series) will be given priority. The Selection Committee will also take into account teams entered on a yearly basis in the 2010 ALMS, LMS and Asian Le Mans Series. Entries from manufacturers have priority.
Driver nominations. For its communications requirements, the ACO asks each team to nominate at least 1 driver per car who cannot be replaced (except in the case of force majeure sent to the Sports Committee). In this case, the withdrawal will lead to the driver being removed from the list of those who can be selected for the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours. The names of the other 2 drivers is still optional but recommended up to 12th May after the Spa-Francorchamps 1000kms, the date on which entrants must send in their final driver line-ups to the ACO by letter. Thus, the final list of the driver line-ups for the le Mans 24 Hours will be sent out a month before the race.
2 reserve lists. In addition to the list of the 55 cars, the ACO will draw up a selection of 10 reserve cars divided into 2 separate lists, GT and LMP. Withdrawals received after 1st February 2010 will be replaced category by category – a GT by a GT and an LMP by an LMP. Reserves must confirm their entry before … 2010.
