A new face joined CRS Racing at Paul Ricard last weekend and immediately added to the team’s trophy cabinet. Nicola Larini joined Klaas Hummel in one of the CRS GT2 Ferrari 430s for the second round of the Sportscar Winter Series. This is a three-event series open to Formula Le Mans Prototypes, GT2 and GT3 cars and is a great opportunity for drivers and teams to get in a little winter practice.

In recent years Larini has been a big star in the World Touring Car Championship but the Italian is probably best known for his long relationship with Ferrari F1 as a race and test driver in the Nineties. He was the last Italian to finish on the podium in a Ferrari F1 car, and now he has done the same in a Ferrari GT car after taking the class wins in both the sprint and endurance races at Ricard at the weekend.

“This event at Ricard proved to be very timely for us,” said new CRS Managing Director, Mark Busfield. “Klaas wanted to evaluate his options for 2010 and we also wanted to give Nicola the opportunity to see how he liked our GT2 Ferrari. Nicola was delighted to have the chance to drive, and thoroughly enjoyed being back behind the wheel of a Ferrari. Klaas also found the running very useful and enjoyed the car as well, Klaas is looking to move up to GT2 having competed in our GT3 car this year.”

With the racing complete the team then had a mad dash to London where they arrived just in time for the 2009 Autosport Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane.
