The Team CytoSport Muscle Milk squad kicked off its week at Petit Le Mans today by showing they could be a force to be reckoned with at the 1000-mile/10-hour race by placing second in class in the first unofficial on-track session.

With limited time on track, the Muscle Milk team used the one-hour, 30-minute test session to find its groove before heading into the first official practice on Thursday. Klaus Graf who was the first driver to take the wheel of the #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder set the team’s fastest time with a lap of 1 minute 12.549 seconds.

Both Greg Pickett and Sascha Maassen had a chance to get behind the wheel for a short amount of time but will get more track time aboard the Porsche RS Spyder tomorrow, when practice resumes at 10:05 a.m. ET for one hour.

The Muscle Milk drivers will then get another hour of practice at 3:20 p.m. ET before the night practice, which takes place from 7:20 p.m. to 9:05 p.m. ET.

Team CytoSport Muscle Milk Quoteboard:

Greg Pickett, Owner, driver, #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

“I’m just tickled to be here. I watched the Mosport race from my living room, which wasn’t ideal by any means! We’re looking forward to racing here and Laguna (Seca). It’s great to have Sascha Maassen here to give us additional input and see if we can find anymore speed between him and Klaus. As for me, I want to keep us in the hunt and keep us out of trouble. It’s a long race here. It could be a little bit inclement on Saturday, which will be OK. You have to be smart here. We have a pretty high team IQ and I think we will be just fine here with the Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder.”

Klaus Graf, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

“It rained real hard here the last few days so the track is pretty green. I think for after a first test session we’re in good shape. We mostly used this short test session to get in the groove, get in the rhythm. But we were competitive right away in the #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder and not matter what session it is, it’s always nice to be up there. I’m pleased the car runs fine, the guys did a great job preparing it. We’ve also done some upgrades on the equipment and the outfit and in my opinion we’re one of the better looking teams in the paddock and I’m proud of that.”

Sascha Maassen, driver #6 Muscle Milk Porsche RS Spyder

“I’m really happy to be back in the car and to be working with the Team CytoSport Muscle Milk guys. I know them from the first test we did together earlier this year. I’m thrilled now to do a race with them, which I was looking forward to for quite a while now. Our first session didn’t go too bad. The track is still not up to speed but it was a good way to start building up the confidence as we head into race day on Saturday.”
