Following the successful race debut of the revolutionary coupe prototype, the DeltaWing® Racing Cars team prepares for this weekend’s Oak Tree Grand Prix at scenic Virginia International Raceway, the penultimate race of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón.

The DeltaWing coupe saw its first race action two weeks ago at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. The team was pleased with the car’s progress throughout the weekend and the miles the car completed in race trim. Drivers Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick look forward to continuing the coupe’s development this weekend, while adding another storied American racetrack to their driving files.

“This is a new circuit for the DeltaWing team,” said Legge. “The track is in a beautiful setting – it has the feel of a classic American racetrack. We’ve really looked forward to running here. We gained quite a bit from the car’s debut in Austin, learning the idiosyncrasies of this particular car, how the systems work, what we can improve upon. This race gives us the chance to see if the changes we effected two weeks ago are making a difference. The team is working hard, for this event and for the finale at our home track of Road Atlanta – we want to finish the season on a positive note and build toward the future.”

“We’ve taken everything we learned at Circuit of the Americas and brought it forward into this race weekend,” agreed Meyrick. “We’ve got a race event with the coupe under our belts now. The team has made more improvements in the week between races, so it’s up to us now, to get up to speed with this new track as quickly as we can. It’s a new track for both of us, but it looks like a very good track and we’re looking forward to the weekend.”

Live streaming of qualifying for the Oak Tree Grand Prix is scheduled for October 4 at 3:35pm, with the race at 2:00pm on October 5 (both on ESPN3.com). The race telecast will be Sunday, October 6 at 5:30pm (all times Eastern).
