After an extensive evaluation study, Tiga Race Cars is proud to announce that it will be progressing the Tiga LMP2 project.
The car is an update of the WFR01, originally developed by Embassy racing. These updates will bring the car up to the current ACO LMP2 regulations for WEC, ELMS and United SportsCar Championship.
In addition there has been an extensive review of both the aerodynamic and mechanical package, with a range of updates, which will make the car highly competitive. Tiga Race Cars is working in partnership with Engine Developments, with the Judd HK as the initial engine installation for the factory test car.
The aerodynamics development will be building on previous wind tunnel data, and also CFD performed both in-house, and in cooperation with Manchester University MACE ( School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering ).
he Tiga Race Cars Simulator will also allow ‘driver in the loop’ evaluation of different configurations, such that the homologation options can be optimised for the projected circuits.
The simulator will be available to all Tiga LMP teams.
Initial running in the baseline aero configuration is planned for October.
Mike Newton (Tiga Cars) : “We feel the original design failed to demonstrate its true potential for a number of reasons, as all the baseline parameters for the package are very good. We see no reason why this can’t be a very competitive package for any of the LMP2 championships, and we are very excited about taking this program forward.”
