The Ecurie Ecosse powered by Black Bull squad will have a new face behind the wheel of its Barwell Motorsport-run BMW Z4 GT3 for the final round of the European Le Mans Series at Paul Ricard this weekend. As the team bids for the ELMS GTC class Championship title, regular driver Joe Twyman has stepped down from his seat and Ecurie Ecosse have secured the services of highly experienced international GT driver, Phil Quaife.

Phil will join Andrew Smith and Ollie Millroy in the Z4, with these two currently lying third in the Drivers points standings and Ecurie Ecosse in the same position in the Team’s Championship. A win and two third places had put them in the lead of both championships prior to the last round at the Hungaroring, but an errant GTE Ferrari forced the BMW off the road there and into retirement. If they are to stand any chance of taking the titles, then nothing less than a race victory at Paul Ricard will suffice.

This is exactly the result that Quaife delivered on his last outing for Barwell Motorsport, however, when he and Leo Machitski took victory in the final round of the 2009 British GT Championship at Brands Hatch aboard our Ginetta G50Z Zytek GT3. We will all certainly be hoping that ‘Super-Sub’ Quaife can pull off another final race win this time around!

Phil Quaife: “I’m excited about being part of the team for this coming weekend and racing a Barwell Motorsport-run car again. Ecurie Ecosse has done a great job so far in the championship and I’m looking forward to working with Andrew and Ollie to secure a good result in the final round.”
