Total 24 Hours of Spa ended in tears for Danish racing team Insight Racing, when their Ferrari 458 Italia was taken out of contention by a competitor.
Third driver Iain Dockerill luckily escaped unharmed – the same cannot be said about the Flex-Box-liveried Ferrari #17, which was a write-off after the crash.
This weekend the racing team based outside Roskilde, Denmark, is hoping to bounce back in the season finale in Blancpain Endurance Series at the Blancpain 1000 Nürburgring.
Martin Jensen, driver and Team Manager:
“We need a turn in luck and hopefully we can turn the accident at Spa-Francorchamps to our advantage. We are basically racing a brand new car, as only the engine and gearbox could be transferred to a new chassis. This way we have had the opportunity to get a bunch of new upgrades that are unique for the 2013-edition of the Ferrari 458 Italia. Hopefully, the new chassis will enable us to gain back some of the lost ground. The updates compared to our ‘old’ 2012 edition include a much stiffer chassis. Our engineer Tim Munday is very positive that we find the speed we have been missing basically since the opening round of the championship. For the Nürburgring race we will be back to two drivers, Dennis and me, and it’s a track that we are all very fond of. Hopefully, we will be able to end this season with a good result.”
Dennis Andersen, driver
“After our unfortunate exit from Spa I hope we can have a good race and a strong result at Nürburgring. Our mechanics at Insight Racing and Kessel have done a great job in getting the car rebuilt in time! Last year we had good pace in Germany, so I expect that we can find that again and hopefully finish the season on a high. And as always I really look forward to go racing and see the team again!”
