SUPER GT official test was scheduled to take place on September 16th at Twin Ring Motegi, but all sessions were cancelled due to adverse weather caused by Typhoon No.18 that travelled across Tokai and Kanto regions. Official test is expected to take place tomorrow, September 17th, as the weather is forecasted to recover.

Twin Ring Motegi was scheduled to host SUPER GT’s official test on September 16th, but the entire schedule planned for the day including testing sessions in the morning and afternoon were cancelled with the weather getting worse with the Typhoon No.18 hitting the mainland of Japan. Wind was not too strong and it was only off and on sprinkle rain in the early morning, but both wind and rain picked up force from around 9AM as the typhoon approached nearer.

Twin Ring Motegi’s decision to close operation was announced already on the day before, but some teams and tire services brought in their transporters to the circuit for preparation. After GTA and Twin Ring Motegi reviewed the situation including expected route of typhoon, weather of Motegi Town, etc, the judgment was made in the early morning of the 16th that it was impossible for the cars to run, and the cancellation of all sessions and preparation work was re-notified once again.

Typhoon is expected to move away to the sea off the coast of Tohoku, and the forecast for the 17th for Motegi town, Tochigi, where Twin Ring Motegi is located, is sunny. If the weather recovers and no impact to the facilities of Twin Ring Motegi, then the official test will be carried out.

The schedule in such case will be changed from the initial one, and the Session 1 will be for three hours, starting from 8:30AM to 11:30AM. Afternoon session will also be three hours starting from 1:00PM to 4:00PM with Pit-walk in between sessions, which will take place from 11:45AM to 12:25PM.
