Last weekend (06th to 08th September, 2013), team rhino’s Leipert Motorsport crowned their second participation in the International GT Open at the “Ardennes roller coaster” in Spa Francorchamps with a victory.

“Our two drivers Peter Kox (NL) and Fabian Hamprecht (GER) braved the most adverse weather conditions in Spa in their Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 and were the first to cross the finish line after an extremely exciting race. A sensational result”, Team Manager Ingo Leipert explained happily after the success on Sunday. The Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 has been performing well on the 7.004 km long racing circuit in Spa all weekend.

“After my last International DMV TCC race with two podium positions on the Red Bull Ring in Austria, the circuit in Spa is now a welcome challenge for me”, Fabian Hamprecht said after the free practice.

The 18 year-old Fabian Hamprecht started Qualifying in the GTS class under good weather conditions although the track was still wet and got a top 10 ranking in a strong field with a lap time of 2:25:960 minutes. Routinier Peter Kox finished the second Qualifying in 6th place with a lap time of 2:20:650 minutes on a completely dry track.

So, conditions were good for the 70 minute-race amidst Ferrari; McLaren, SLS, Corvette, Aston Martin and Porsche. After a thrilling first race with Fabian Hamprecht as start driver, Peter Kox finished the race in 7th place.

On Sunday, the 12th race of the season of the suspense-packed International GT Open series was held. Peter Kox had an excellent start and managed to leave some of his opponents way behind him during his stint. He then handed over the Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3 to Fabian Hamprecht after a fascinating first half of the race. In the following, the team performed a perfect pit stop so that the Lamborghini could be back on the track before the Aston Martin which had thitherto been in front.

Fabian Hamprecht defended his position brilliantly and was the first to cross the finish line after an extremely thrilling race.

Team Manager Ingo Leipert summarized as follows: “This was a brilliant racing weekend at the International GT Open – for our team and the driver duo with starting no. 74. Once again, we showed that we are internationally competitive with our Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3.”
