United Autosports left Zandvoort as double winners after Glynn Geddie won both Supercar Challenge races at the Dutch track.

A successful weekend consisting of a pole position, fastest lap and two race wins sees the team regain their lead in the European championship with the McLaren MP4-12C. After a thrilling start to race one from second on the grid, Glynn passed the leading Ferrari of Jan Versluis into the first corner and held the lead for the rest of the hour-long race, eventually crossing the line with a 31 second advantage over the rest of the field. Glynn started the second race on pole with Versluis next to him on the grid. As the lights went green, Versluis pulled the same move on Glynn into the first corner as the Scot did to him in race one. Falling into second place, Glynn made his move past the Ferrari after a tantalizingly close battle and began to stretch his lead out before coming in to pit. Glynn rejoined in second, behind the Volvo of Henry Zumbrink after a 20 second success penalty was added to the pit time after his win in race one. Glynn managed to pass Zumbrink after he rejoined the track and took the second win of the weekend for a delighted team.

The United Autosports Audi R8 LMS ultra also added crucial points to their championship campaign after seventh and tenth place finishes in the two British GT Championship races at the only overseas race on the calendar. They head to Donington for the last round with some work to do after an unrepresentative showing in the second race at Zandvoort. Race one saw Mark Patterson and Matt Bell storm their way through the grid from a P16 qualifying spot to bring the Audi home in P7. Matt also got fastest lap for the team, showing the competitiveness of the car. Race two was a more disappointing event, after a good qualifying from Matt put the car in P7. Matt and Mark could not make their way through the field and dropped back down the standings to P11 at the checkered flag. A post race penalty for the Fortec Mercedes bumped Matt and Mark up into the final points position.

We now head to Spa for the penultimate round of the Supercar Challenge Championship where Glynn and the team are hoping to build on their championship lead. The next British GT round at Donington will see the championship battle come to a head with the winners being crowned after the final two-hour race.

Glynn Geddie, Driver, United Autosports #112 McLaren MP4-12C:

“This weekend in Zandvoort has been great, especially after the disappointment we suffered in Assen. Two race wins, two fastest laps and a pole is a fantastic result for all the team. We worked so hard to finally get the win we deserved. It has been a long time coming, but worth it now it has. I am now looking forward to the final two rounds and hopefully we can get some more race wins before the end of the season.”

Matt Bell, Driver, United Autosports #25 Audi R8 LMS ultra:

“It was a difficult race for us. From the minute the lights went out, it just felt like I had absolutely no grip. At first I thought it might just have been a greasy track, given the rain we had this morning but the cars I was chasing and catching in race one were just pulling away from me in race two for no real reason. The set up was the same, we had the fastest car here in race one and car felt absolutely fantastic. I’m looking forward to Donington, it’s one of my favourite tracks and we need to win, we have the car to win as we showed in race one.”

Richard Dean, Managing Director and Co-Owner, United Autosports:

“It has been a fantastic weekend in Zandvoort for the European championship and we come home with some good points for Matt and Mark in the British championship. I’m thrilled we have managed to get our first win with Glynn in the McLaren, it has been a long time coming and it’s a great feeling now we have managed to do it. British GT race two for the Audi was a bit of a struggle, but we showed we had the pace in race one so we will go home and evaluate where we can improve for the last round at Donington.”
