Davide Rigon and Andrea Montermini took a perfect revenge on yesterday’s disappointment, by winning in the last lap today a lively Race 2 today in Spa, after a strong charge in the second stint driven by championship leader Montermini. The Villorba Corse pair took the option to start on slicks, which was the right one as the track dried up after a few laps, although they suffered a bit in the first stint.

Excellent second overall and winners in GTS were Peter Kox and Fabian Hamprecht on the Rhino Leipart Lamborghini, preceding another GTS car, the GPR Aston Martini of Maxime Soulet – Enzo Ide, who recovered wonderfully after a spin at the start. The GTS podium was completed by Joel Camathias – Stefano Costantini, on the Ombra Ferrari, after a great race and despite a drive-through.

It’s almost dry track for the start, with a majority of cars on slicks. 24 cars are on the grid, with the Rinaldi Porsche and the Corvette of Nathan withdrawn. Start is lively, with contacts in the group at La Source resulting in Soulet and Beretta spinning. Ladigyin (on wets) takes the lead ahead of Pastorelli, Mavlanov, Talkanitsa, Laursen, van der Zande, Kox and Rigon, who seems in trouble.

There is big fight between Ladygin and Pastorelli, but in lap 2 the Corvette goes out of the sandwich between the SMP Ferraris and takes the lead, flying away. As the line dries up, the cars with rain tires drop down. Sijthoff retires on lap 4. In lap 5, Pastorelli is ahead of Kox, Seyffarth, Soulet who charged back as a devil, Griffin, Camathias, Rigon Ladygin and Talkanitsa. The big fight is between Seyffarth and Soulet for third and the Belgian passes on lap 7, while Laursen is off and hits the wall. The GPR continues to climb and in lap 10, takes second from Seyffarth, as the driver change windows opens.

After all changes, Hamprecht leads 22 seconds clear of Ide, then Ramos and Montermini together, Voelker, Costantini, Cameron, Frezza, Beretta and Camp. There are though some drive-through sanctions fr various infringements for Ghezzi, Costantini, Toril and Camp.

It is Montermini putting the show in the final laps, passing Ramos in lap 14 and chasing Ide, passing him in lap 17. The Italian doesn’t stop and presses on Hamprecht, taking the lead and the win at Kemmel in the final lap. The fight for third in GTS is won by Costantini, who keeps at bay Frezza. Talkanitsa in Super GT and Stephen Earle – Fredy Kremer take the honours in the Gentlemen’s Trophy.
