Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella, in their AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia #51, won the “6 Hours of Sao Paulo” (Sunday, 1 Sep- tember). The Roman duo took the second victory of the season in the GTE Pro category of the Fia Wec (as in 2012) after a nose-to-tail battle with the No.97 Aston Martin Vantage. Just 1.4 seconds separated the two cars at the end of 6 hours of hard racing. Thanks to the result, Fisichella and Bruni gain the third place in the GTE Pro Driver standing on 81 points (just 5 behind the leaders). Ferrari is first in the GT Manufactures (149 points) and AF Corse is third among the GTE Pro team (81 points, 9 behind the top).

The result of the Italian duo partly compensates for the misfortune of his Pro team mates. The No.71 AF Corse Ferrari was involved in a conflagration which destroyed the rear end of the 458 Italia – driver Toni Vilander was lucky to escape unharmed in any way-. For Vilander and Kamui Kobayashi is still open the championship: ac- tually, they are in sixth position with 57 points.

Good news from the GTE Am category: the 8 Star Motorsports Ferrari 458 Italia #81 – managed by AF Corse -gained the second place thanks to the great performance of the drivers Enzo Potolicchio, Rui Aguas and Davide Rigon; the young Italian ma- king an assured debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship. In the GTE Am Team standing, 8 Star Motorsports is second on 74 points, just 2 behind the first. Potolicchio and Aguas have the fourth position in the GTE Am Drivers Standing (-10).

The race of the Ferrari 458 Italia #61 – driven by Jack Gerber, Marco Cioci and Matt Griffin unfortunately ended before the chequered flag. The trio, after the podium at Le Mans, has always 36 points in the GTE Am Driver standing.

The championship continues on September 22nd at Austin (Texas, USA), with the “6 Hours of the Americas”.
