Dunlop leaves South America after winning the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo race and marking the halfway stage in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The #26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 03 Nissan led from start to finish. Mike Conway set the fastest LMP2 lap of the race with a 1:27.502 but the lap times were consistently quick with the car double-stinting the medium compound tyres.

There was plenty happening behind the G-Drive car although, by the halfway stage of the six hour race, a one-lap margin was too much for rivals to overcome. A fight for second place was ultimately won by the Oak Racing #35 Morgan-Nissan which won the LMP2 class at Le Mans, with the points scored enough to extend the French squad’s championship lead.

Greaves Motorsport was unable to challenge Pecom Racing but after their non-finish in Spa the team will be able to take consolation from the valuable points scored for fourth in the Zytek-Nissan. The #45 Oak Racing car followed across the line in fifth ahead of its sister #24 Morgan, which had been running as high as second but ultimately suffered after a suspension issue warranted an unscheduled stop for repairs.

Fewer laps were completed in this year’s race due to over an hour of the race being run under the safety car but the pace was faster. The best 2013 race lap, set by the race winners, was over three-tenths of a second quicker than the 2012 time.

Paul Bryant, Key Account Manager for Endurance Racing:

“Dunlop has had a good weekend. We have double-stinted the medium compound very successfully on an aggressive circuit in hot conditions and the pace was very good. I’m pleased that after such a strong qualifying performance G-Drive was able to do so well in the race on their way to the win and of course it is good that Oak Racing has extended the title lead. We still have four races remaining but we are very pleased with the performance of the 2013 tyres in all the conditions that we have encountered since the start of the season, from the wet and cold of Silverstone to the heat in Brazil.”
