After over two months off-track since Le Mans, the Dunlop teams are primed for resuming their battle to claim the LMP2 title at the next event, the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo.
With their win and podium finish at Le Mans where double points were awarded, the two Oak Racing teams are leading the championship. But with five rounds remaining there is plenty of scope for it all to change at the top. Greaves Motorsport will be looking for a return to winning ways while Silverstone race winners Delta-ADR, along with its sister G-Drive racing car will be strong challengers. The Lotus team last scored points at Spa and will be also hoping to increase the tally.
Last year saw the winning LMP2 car complete 234 laps and with the 2013 cars and tyres showing more pace it is expected that the distance completed this year will increase.
The race takes place on Sunday 1st September.
Paul Bryant, Key Account Manager for Endurance Racing: “It feels a long time since we were racing at Le Mans so it will be good to get back to work with the teams. The times should be faster than last year as this year’s tyres have more pace. The track can be reasonably aggressive and we’re expecting heat. Last year the teams were single stinting on the medium compound but we expect the harder option will be capable of double stint this year. Depending on the track conditions we may see split compounds being used with cars optimizing the balance by using a softer tyre on the front on one side only with a harder compound on the other corners.”
