Total 24 Hours of Spa is beckoning. Danish race team Insight Racing is looking to better their seventh place finish in the 2012 edition.
With 72 entrants the Total 24 Hours of Spa is the biggest race and one of the highest rated 24 hour races – if anything in regards to the competition with 70 cars entered in the FIA GT3 category. Total 24 Hours of Spa is round 4 of Blancpain Endurance Series.
Danish drivers Martin Jensen and Dennis Andersen will once again partner up with Britain’s Iain Dockerill. The trio secured a seventh place finish in the 2012 race. A position, the team based in Hedehusene just outside of Roskilde in Denmark, would like to repeat or even better in the upcoming endurance race in Belgium.
The team’s Ferrari 458 Italia has been rebuilt since the last race at Paul Ricard (F) and the team is well prepared for the tough 24 hour race on the rollercoaster racetrack Spa-Francorchamps.
Martin Jensen, driver and Team Manager: “We have rebuilt the car completely since the last race, the team and the drivers are all ready for the challenge, and we are very much looking forward to it. We rate this race very highly – it’s not 24 Hours of Le Mans, but it’s certainly up there and very competitive with 70 cars in the same category.
Our goal for this year is to be better than last in last year’s race, which was our debut in a 24 hour race as a race team. Like last year, we will give everything we’ve got, and we hope to fare better than in 2012.
That said, there are 72 cars on track, so it will be very busy, which is cool. The competition is tougher than last year as well with a lot of factory teams out there, so it will be difficult and a real challenge. But we look forward to it.
We have had a test day at Spa-Francorchamps leading up to the race. The test went well, albeit we had rain most of the day. But in the Ardennes we are guaranteed to have rain at one point during the 24 hour race, so we are well prepared for that too. Both Dennis (Andersen) and Iain (Dockerill) had a bunch of laps in the car, and the team is very well gelled together – very much thanked to our sponsors who have been with us through this journey.”
