Race weekends follow one another for Joel Camathias: after his International GT Open, the Swiss driver will be this weekend in Austria for the third round of the European Le Mans Series. The continental endurance championship stops at the Red Bull Ring, the renewed historic track at Spielberg-Zeltweg, with the 3-hour race scheduled on Saturday’s late afternoon.

Following two fourth finishes in the previous rounds, Joel and his team mate Andrea Bertolini aim at a step on the podium and at materializing the potential shown by the Ferrari F458 of British team JMW Motorsport.

Joël Camathias: “I’m happy to be racing at the Red Bull Ring and on an endurance race again. At Silverstone and Imola, we had a very positive start of the season. In both occasions, we were fighting for a podium position that we eventually shortly missed. In England because the race was stopped for heavy rain at the worst moment for us, just after we had pitted, and in Italy because we were slowed by an electrical problem. Here, we hope to have a trouble-free race and to be able to materialize the potential that is certainly there. Both Andrea and I, as well as the entire JMW team, are extremely determined. The Red Bull Ring is a demanding track, especially with warm weather, but I have been racing there two years ago with the GT Open and last year with the Italian GT and I should be competitive straight away.”
