Another good performance for the Spaniard GT driver of Kurdish ancestry at Silverstone, home of the British round for the International GT Open. Starting from the back of the grid and using an old-spec engine due to the new one was blown yesterday, Tutumlu claimed a sixth place for Barzani Racing Team, driving the Autorlando Sport Porsche 997 GT3 R.

Isaac Tutumlu has got to overcome problems suffered yesterday when his car engine forced him into retirement, after just two laps behind the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 R fielded by Autorsport Sport. Tutumlu and Antonio Spavone were using an older engine today, even when it was a handicap in comparison with other teams on the starting grid. Spavone started the race and he could go through some cars before Tutumlu took over the car after twenty minutes into the race. With Tutumlu driving, Kurdistan ́s driver managed to pass cars almost every single lap. So at the end, and starting his stint in 14th place, Tutumlu was 6th in GTS class, an excellent speed exhibition.

“It was a good second race, we were able to overtake many cars after starting from the back of the grid”, Tutumlu explained. The driver continued saying that “I ́ve really enjoyed this race immediately after beginning my stint. I was overtaking almost every lap and, with a couple of additional minutes, other two cars were in my sight. We already knew this engine was quite slower, mainly on the straights with a lack of top-speed. But even with these problems we were sixth! Our weekend wasn ́t an easy one at the beginning and yesterday ́s engine problem was a definitive shock”. But now not just Tutumlu and Barzani Racing Team but everyone at Autorlando Sport are already “thinking in our next three commitments in the GT Open. We still have chances to fight for the title. This round has been a bump in the road for us, but it wasn ́t our fault. After the summer break we will be back stronger than ever, and of course our illusion will be even bigger. Now, at Spa-Francorchamps next September, we want to be on podium again. We ́ll have plenty of time to work and of course rest too in the forthcoming weeks”.
