Craft Racing is adding another great race driver to their already impressive line-up, with Darryl O’Young joining their campaign in the GT Asia Series, partnering Ford GT3 driver Samson Chan from this weekend. The team is mounting an intense challenge to take the Team Championship from big rival, Team Clearwater Racing.

O’Young is Hong Kong’s great export to the World Touring Car Championship, having started in the Series in 2010 and additionally going on to compete in numerous endurance races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Dubai 24 Hours.

This will be the 33-year-old’s first stint in the GT Asia Series and he will share driving duties with Chan, a GT Asia Series regular. Chan missed the race weekend in Okayama and will hope to make great strides this weekend in terms of points.

Last year, Chan had quite a memorable weekend in Fuji starting both races in tenth, having a great battle with Jeffrey Lee in the first race to finish eighth and finishing fifth in the second race. Had it not been for a miscommunication which led to Dilantha Malagamuwa overtaking him at the last minute this could have easily been fourth on a drying circuit.

It will be the first time Chan will be paired up with another driver and it will be interesting to see the driver change in the low seating of the Ford GT3.

The GT Asia Series continues with Rounds 5 & 6 at the 4.5km Fuji International Circuit as part of the Super Formula event this 12-14 July 2013. The GT Asia Series Rounds 5 – 10, held at Fuji, Sepang and Zhuhai will mark the start of the AAMC Macau GT Cup, where drivers will also collect points for the Macau GT Championship.

The 2013 GT Asia Series is supported by Yokohama ADVAN, Graham Timekeepers, KW Automotive, AutoArt, Tunewear and RaceRoom.

The GT Asia Series is jointly organised by Motorsport Asia and Supercar Club Hong Kong.
