The 2013 edition of the Spa 24 hours promises to be spectacular. More than 70 cars entered, representing nine of the greatest and more prestigious automotive brands, will fight on the Belgian track in order to complete the twice round-the-clock at the top of the ranking. The struggle for the victory will be intense and fascinating!
Inside this peloton, Aston Martin wants to get a good result for is 100 years and will enter, via his official representative Aston Martin Brussels, two last generation GT3 Vantage, entrusted to the expert hands of Pino Sperlinga’s team GPR.
While the #100 car, entered in PRO will be driven by three professional drivers – Bertrand Baguette, Darren Turner & Jamie Campbell-Walter (these two last are officials drivers from the brand), the # 89, in PROAM, will be entrusted to Sarah Bovy, Michael Schmetz, Pierre Grivegnée & Bert Redant ! All drivers have the strong intention to celebrate the birthday of the English constructor as one might expect!
“Of course, it’s a unique opportunity and I’m proud to wear Aston Martin colours, comments Sarah. The choice of the drivers has been thought in order to make the best possible result on a 24 hours length race. I think I can learn a lot from the most experimented drivers of the team and at the same time I know I will find my place and have the opportunity to express fully myself behind the wheel and outside the car. That’s what I was looking for in sight of my third participation at 24h”.
This Wednesday, 5 of the 7 drivers of the GPR formation participated at the event’s official Test Day. An opportunity for Sarah to get accustomed to the English beauty: “I must admit that arriving at the circuit, I was anxious of discovering the car in such difficult conditions. I got on the track under a torrential rain! But I’ve been reassured very quickly. The car is just amazingly efficient and fast. I ran about twenty laps and I can’t wait to get in the car again! “.
Meet Sarah again on Wednesday 24th of July for the traditional parade opening the celebrations of the Total 24 Hours of Spa!
