Danish racing team Insight Racing came away from third meeting of the 2013 season in Blancpain Endurance Series without points after what was a promising race. The Danish duo of Dennis Andersen and Martin Jensen started from 19th spot after concentrating on setup for the race during qualifying.
After the rolling start behind the safety car Dennis Andersen raced at a steady pace before handing over the #17 Ferrari 458 Italia to Martin Jensen at the first pitstop. The rapid Dane then pulled off a series of quick laps to get the car into 4th position in the Pro-Am category before the second and final pitstop.
The white, blue and red Ferrari was just outside the overall top 10 of the three hour race, when Jensen handed the car back to Dennis Andersen.
Unfortunately, a problem in the pitstop cost the team several minutes before Andersen was able to return to the track. At this point, there was no chance of reaching the points scoring positions again. Andersen/Jensen ended the race in 14th position in the Pro-Am category and 34th overall.
The Insight Racing DK team will head to Belgian Spa-Francorchamps for official testing on Wednesday. The test is a build-up to the 24 hour race at the Ardennes track in the weekend of 27-28 July.
Dennis Andersen, driver: “My first stint in the car was ok, but I lacked confidence in the car during the first laps after the changes we have made to the car. The team pulled off a super quick pit stop after which Martin took the car to 4th position. Unfortunately, in the second stop the starter failed and we lost several minutes and a top finish due to a faulty plug.”
Martin Jensen, driver and Team Manager: “We have cracked a giant nut this weekend and found out, why we have been struggling with car. We spent most of the sessions working on race setup because the car was quick over one lap, but quite lively after a few laps, but the team worked hard to sort it out, and we had a fantastic race car. The start of the race was behind the safetycar due to the tragic accident in the support race earlier. Although it was understandable, it spread out the field a lot, and Dennis had more work to do than normal in the beginning of the race.”
