With the presentation of the Lamborghini Murcielago RS-V, Stéphane Ratel made the most of the occasion to reveal the last of the information concerning the championships of 2010; a World championship in GT1, and a European championship in GT2.
The SRO President told us that finally the dream was becoming a reality: “18 months ago, we hoped to have two or three manufacturers racing in 2009. I’m glad to say it’s happening as there are two cars that are already on track. With the presentation of the Lamborghini, we now have another manufacturer participating. Other manufacturers such as Corvette and Aston Martin have also showed high interests, using adaptation kits. So for now, we can confirm that 10 manufacturers will be participating in 2010″.
On the team’s side, “we are still in discussion although it shouldn’t be long before certain decisions are announced.” Marc VDS Racing has confirmed the entry of two Ford GT1 cars in 2010, and Ferrari could suggest a kit for the F430. Meanwhile Audi will surely make the most of their presence in the 24 Hours of Spa in G2 to judge the potential of the R8 LMS.
