The Spaniard driver of Kurdish heritage took his maiden win in the International GT Open for Barzani Racing Team. Driving the Autorlando Sport Porsche 997 GT3 R he won the GTS and Spanish Iber GT classifications and was 3rd overall.
Isaac Tutumlu continues his historical motorsport career for Kurdistan. Today, this Spaniard but with Kurdish ancestry, has taken first victory ever for a driver from Kurdistan on the international scene. In the morning, Tutumlu already showed his pace setting the pole position in GTS at the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 R shared with Dimitris Deverikos.
But things even improved in race when, at the start, Tutumlu overtook two cars to run second overall. During his stint he led the GTS classification and was 3rd overall all along. “I was pushing as much as possible during my stint. It was very difficult, heat was suffocating, and I was trying not to destroy the tires. But fortunately I managed to do it”, he said afterwards. Deverikos rejoined in the lead once again, and nobody else could overtake him, so the Spanish-Greek duo grabbed an amazing victory. It ́s necessary to mention in addition to GTS win, they also won Spanish Iber GT classification and were third overall. In the overall rankings, Tutumlu lies second both in GTS of the GT Open and Spanish Iber GT.
“It ́s incredible to describe this result. We ́ve had to work a lot but finally here it comes, our first win. This triumph is for Barzani family and my sponsors, without them it wouldn ́t be possible. Of course, Autorlando Sport plays an important part too, because the Porsche was perfect. It ́s a triple podium finish, well-deserved after our work in recent seasons”, he pointed out after leaving the podium.
Tomorrow race two, consisting of 50 minutes, and starting at 12.00.
