On Sunday 9th June the drivers had to cope with heavy rain in the morning and the track did not dry out until mid-afternoon. No worries for Tristan Gommendy, though! “I’m delighted with my test in the rain and my time of 4m00.504s. We found the right balance with Michelin and we’re starting to have a much better grasp of the tyre parameters. Now, I’d like to run in the dry to evaluate the potential of the car on this condition.”

Tests in the rain

“I was really looking forward to this test. The team was determined to go for it.” These were Tristan’s first words after the test day. The driver from Sartrouville was delighted to return to the Le Mans 24-Hours circuit, which he loves as much for its legendary connotations as for the track itself. “Unfortunately, I just ran in wet conditions, but I’m pleased with my results. The team’s pretty happy too! The car’s setup is perfect; the Alpine A450 is very quick. Everybody’s done a great job.”

An Alpine A110 that sends the fans into ecstasy!

At the end of the test day, Tristan posed for a photo session with the Alpine A110 Berlinette, which he had driven the morning to arrive at the circuit. A moment of pure passion shared with the Alpine fans.

Tristan will be back on the Le Mans on this Sunday 16th June. What is his ambition with Alpine? “I know what the spectators expect. Alpine has won several championships and its name rhymes with victory. I’m in a humble frame of mind about its return to racing. We’re making progress step by step and we’ll keep burning the midnight oil until 22-23 June. Above all, I hope we’ll finish the Le Mans 24 Hours and maybe even aim for a top-3 finish!”
