OAK Racing topped the test day time sheets for the LMP2 class after the team put in a 3:38.801 lap in its Morgan-Nissan. The teams had moved to slicks partway through the second of the two four-hour test sessions at the La Sarthe track having started the day with full wets to cope with the rain and standing water with a phase of intermediates in between. The day was an opportunity for teams to test components and settings in addition to drivers each completing mandatory qualifying laps. Priority was given to the safe completion of the ten laps required by rookie drivers to meet the regulations. A further free practice session will be held on Wednesday 19th June followed by a qualifying session that night. Thursday 20th June sees a further two qualifying sessions with the 24 hour race starting on Saturday 22nd June.

Jean-Felix Bazelin, General Manager Dunlop Motorsport Europe: “Everyone’s plans were disrupted by the weather for working on their cars for the 24 Hours but the weather gave us the opportunity to test everything from full wets to slicks. It is possible that we could have dry practice and qualifying sessions so it is useful for the teams to have some running in the wet before the race. We have learnt a lot. Although no two days evaluate the operating windows for the tyres.”
