Ginetta fans won’t have to miss a moment of the action from Silverstone this weekend, as SRO, Hayfisher and Motors TV have joined forces to broadcast Sunday’s afternoon of racing live into homes across the UK.
The coverage offers Ginetta fans a one-time opportunity to watch round nine of the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge live on Sunday May 26 from 17.40 on Motors TV (Sky – Channel 447), as a field of up to 25 cars will close proceedings on a weekend of great racing at the home of British motorsport.
Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of Ginetta Cars said;”The live coverage offers great exposure for our Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge competitors and their sponsors who often have to rely on highlights shows to watch the racing.
“One of the great attractions to Ginetta is the television coverage of our races, so the move by SRO, Hayfisher and Motors TV to showcase this weekend’s action live, is certainly going to be a popular one within the paddock.”
The Avon Tyres British GT Championship is also sure to provide unmissable entertainment, with a packed grid of no less than 48 cars enjoying a three hour race, which includes nine Ginetta cars.
Ginetta’s factory entry, Team LNT, will be looking for strong results in their G55 GT3 car with Mike Simpson and Richard Sykes at the helm, whilst two further GT3 entries come from CWS 4X4 Spares’ Tom Sharp and Colin White, and championship returnee Ian Stinton, who will be joined on driving duties by Century Motorsports team principal, and racer in his own right, Nathan Freke.
In the GT4 class, Ginetta fans will be treated to six entries, including current championship leaders Declan Jones and Zoe Wenham, Optimum Motorsports Rick Parfitt Jnr and Ryan Ratcliffe and APO Sport’s Alex Osbourne and James May in their Ginetta G50 GT4 cars.
Alongside them will be new entries from Blendini Motorsport’s Rory Bryant and Anthony Rodgers, Motorground’s Henry Taylor and Nigel Farmer, coupled with returning team Redgate Lifetime Racing, with Matt Smith and Dan Eagling in command.
Richard Hay of Hayfisher said : “Firstly, we have to thank SRO & Motors TV for working with us towards this common goal – the live footage aims to offer great value for competitors and sponsors, as well as enable fans who can’t join us at the circuit to be a part of the action. We hope the live televising of this event leads to further expansion in this area in the future, which will undoubtedly see continued expansion of interest in the series.”
Coverage will run from 11.55 – 18.00 on Sunday 26 May, with well-known motorsport presenters Gary Champion and David Addison on hand to offer running commentary and interviews throughout the six hour programme.
