The home of British motorsport, Silverstone is the setting for the third round of the British GT Championship as the focus switches to the Northamptonshire circuit (25/26 May).
Mark Patterson and Matt Bell in the No. 25 Audi R8 LMS ultra head the points for United going into the event and are currently second in the overall championship standings with seven races to go.
It was a mixed weekend at Rockingham for Zak Brown and ‘Alvaro Parente in the No. 23 McLaren MP4-12C and they will be looking for a solid performance at Silverstone. Mark Blundell made a lightening start, gaining 19 places before handing over the No. 24 McLaren MP4-12C to Jody Firth, but a setback during the mandatory driver change dropped them down the order.
The focus for the team this weekend will be to have all three cars in point-scoring positions by the end of the third round of this highly competitive British series.
The Silverstone 500 will see a full grid of 48 cars, of which 32 of them will be running in the GT3 class. The first track action will commence on Saturday at 9am with the first of two free practice sessions. Second free practice at 12pm midday then qualifying at 4.30pm for 45 minutes. On Sunday morning a ten-minute warm up session ahead of the race which gets underway at 1pm and finishes three-hours later at 4pm..
Richard Dean. Team Owner and Managing Director of United Autosports : “We have had a great start to the season with the Audi. Mark and Matt have been on great form. While the McLaren’s have been fast, we have yet to get onto the podium. Having won the three hour race here at Silverstone last season, I am hopeful we can show strongly in 2013.”
