After the suspension last night, the 41st ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race was restarted at 8.20 a.m. with the display of the green flag. Dörr Motorsport continues to contest the race with four cars.
With a little over six hours to go before the end of the race, all competitors are trying to handle the difficult track conditions as best as possible. The four remaining Dörr Motorsport cars continue to successfully defend their positions.
The 41st ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race was suspended last night just before the completion of the sixth hour, due to heavy rainfall and fog. This morning, the weather conditions improved and the drivers were allowed to resume the race at 8.20 a.m.
Z4 M Coupé on track to podium finish
The drivers of the leading Z4 M Coupé were involved in a collision through no fault of their own on Sunday evening. As a result, they lost valuable minutes in the pit lane, dropping to the fourth place in their class of the modified cars with a cylinder capacity of up to 3.5 litres.
Taking over the Z4 M Coupé for the restart, Stefan Aust braved the huge amounts of water and pushed forward to the third position. With six hours to go, Aust/Thomson/Weishar/Weishaupt are just 2 laps behind the leading car in their category.
Toyotas GT86 without problems
The three Dörr Motorsport Toyotas GT86 are completing their laps on the wet track without problems. Even though there have been some changes in positions within the class due to the changing track conditions, the Toyotas are currently in third, fourth and fifth place respectively, and therefore still within reach of the podium. The GT86 of Hahn, Konrad, Gass and Vetter is currently in third place, followed by the car of Heldmann, Tenchini, Hofmann and Scheibner. The third Dörr car, with Sandritter/Möller-Sonntag/Grossmann/Naumann at the wheel, is fifth in its class six hours before the finish of the 41st ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race.
Team Manager Uwe Isert is pleased with the performance of his drivers: “All our drivers have been doing a great job under these challenging conditions, considering the high amount of incidents on the track. All cars are running without problems. Only the Z4 is losing a little time due to a few engine cut-outs.”
