Joël Camathias has put together two nice drives in the two races of the International GT Open held in summer conditions at Portimão, Portugal. In both race-1 and race-2, the Swiss driver shone and took part in close battles in the extremely competitive GTS class. The good performances of Joel and team mate Mario Cordoni were not duly awarded. The engine of the Ombra Racing Ferrari 458 GT3 broke in the closing laps of race-1, while on Sunday the car took a 12th position.

Joel Camathias: : “It was an intense weekend, where I had a lot of fun. There was big fight in the closely-fought GTS class. On Saturday, I did the second stint and we could have finished in the top five, but the engine broke six laps from the end, because a leak in the radiator. Unfortunately, the radio was not working properly and I could not hear the pitwall asking me to stop. The boys did a magnificent work to re-prepare the car for Sunday, working part of the night. In race-2, I took the start and there was really good battling in GTS. Mario kept a good path in the final part and we finished 12th. We leave with an excellent impression about the car’s and the team’s progress.”
