Second event in the International GT Open for Drivex, held at Autódromo do Algarve in Portugal. The Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 2012 driven by Archie Hamilton and Niccolò Schirò will be a main win contender both overall and in Super GT class.

Rain meant a difficult start for the team and its drivers at Paul Ricard, but they still managed to finish 5th twice. For Portugal Drivex has made some improvements on the car and given the fact Schiró and Hamilton already finished on podium last year, the chances for a good result are quite high and there is an optimistic outlook ahead. Anyway the entry list has over thirty cars for this round, so everyone at Drivex will have to try his best in order to complete a valuable weekend.

Unlike Paul Ricard, for this round there are three test sessions starting today. Tomorrow the timetable is as always, with free practice sessions. Both qualifying sessions are taking place on Saturday morning. Race one (70 minutes) is scheduled on Saturday and race two (50 minutes) on Sunday.

Archie Hamilton: “We had a solid weekend at Paul Ricard, even if the results didn ́t show it. We only got the engine on the Thursday and we did zero testing. So two 5th places weren ́t bad considering how unlucky we were in qualifying sessions. Portimao is a circuit what I like it. I came 2nd and 1st last year with GT3 car. It ́s a track that suits the Porsche wel, we have extra testing which will allow us to try some new upgrades. Hopefully we can get a few podiums or even our first win of the season.”

Niccolò Schirò: “We were very unlucky during the first round, especially because of the weather. Anyway we ́ve potential and we ́re going to be on top in Portimao.”

Miguel Ángel de Castro: “After a difficult start at Paul Ricard, we ́re eying for improvement in Portimao. At least we managed to score important points for the overall standings. We ́ve worked on the car recently, so our aim is to prove that work on track.”
