Despite all the problems with the balance of performance and the trouble with Yokohama tires of the last ADAC GT Masters racing season, rhino’s Leipert Motorsport has decided to enter its 5th season at the ADAC GT Masters. The team’s two Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 cars show the new design of team sponsor rhino’s energy from Munich.
The choice of drivers is promising:
The car with rhino’s outfit “cherry acai” in gold-white is driven by David Mengesdorf (23) and Frank Schmickler (47). Mengesdorf has already been with the team since 2011 and won third place at the FIA GT3 European Championships last year. His new team mate is Frank Schmickler, a former DTM driver who is entering his seventh season at the ADAC GT Masters.
The sister car with rhino’s outfit “classic” in green-silver is driven by Czech Eduardo Leganov (41) who has already raced for the team in the FIA GT3 European Championships last year. His co-driver is Fabian Hamprecht (17) who was successful in the Austria Formula 3 Cup last year and who has already been among the top 3 with the team at the DMV Touring Car Challenge twice this year.
Team Manager Ingo Leipert explains: “Last season’s ADAC GT Masters was no walk in the park due to the balance of performance and the troubles with the Yokohama tires. We know that we have the potential to win with our cars and have shown this in an impressive manner at the FIA GT3 2012. We believe that DMSB has got the classification of cars under control and that Yokohama has solved their tire problem so that we are convinced that we can make good headlines again this year. Season 2013 has started very promisingly for us, with a podium position at the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and the DMV Touring Car Challenge. We intend to continue this.”
