The Dörr Motorsport team will contest their 15th season in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring with a McLaren MP4-12C GT3, two Toyotas GT86 and the trusted BMW Z4 M Coupe.
The 38th DMV 4-Hour Race will kick off the new Endurance Championship Nürburgring season on Saturday, 13th April, 2013. Dörr Motorsport will contest the season with four cars and a very competitive package.
Three skilled drivers in the McLaren
In 2013, the Dörr Motorsport team will contest their second season at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the McLaren MP4-12C GT3. The team will rely on three skilled drivers at the highlight of the season, the 24-Hour Race: Rudi Adams, Niclas Kentenich and Peter Kox will be at the wheel of the British super sports car.
Rudi Adams has the most experience at the Nordschleife among the three pilots. The Pirelli test driver has been an integral part of Dörr Motorsport for many years.
Niclas Kentenich competed successfully both in the ADAC GT-Masters and at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in different kinds of vehicles in the past, where he scored top places.
Peter Kox completes the line-up. The Dutch driver competed in the Dörr Motorsport McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in 2012 and can look back at an impressive career, scoring the third place in the 24-Hour LeMans, working as a factory driver for Aston Martin and winning the 2010 ADAC GT-Masters title.
Team Manager Uwe Isert is confident about the new season, given the driver line-up: “Rudi Adams, Niclas Kentenich and Peter Kox at the wheel of our McLaren are three absolutely professional drivers. Completing as many kilometres as possible is the priority in the first few races, in order to be able to prepare well for the 24-Hour Race. However, I hope we can continuously score places among the top10 with these strong drivers. We are going to announce a fourth driver for the 24-Hour Race shortly.”
Rudi Adams and Niclas Kentenich will share the British super sports car at the first race of the season, the 38th DMV 4-Hour Race, on April 14th.
Dörr Motorsport in the TMG GT86 Cup
Dörr Motorsport will enter new territory with two Toyotas GT86: the team from Frankfurt will compete against their competitors in a special one-make championship within the VLN championship, exclusively open to these race cars.
Arno Klasen, who scored 26 overall wins in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring, and Arne Hoffmeister, who also contests the FIA GT Series for Dörr Motorsport, will share the Toyota. The two professional drivers will be joined by Fabian Wrabetz at the season opener.
The second GT86 will not be entered for the first race: “We are going to do some tests with the second Toyota and different drivers first before we announce a driver line-up,” says Team Manager Isert before the first race.
Dörr continues to rely on the Z4 M Coupe
The BMW Z4 M Coupe will be entered again at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2013 like in the previous years. Dörr Motorsport scored numerous class victories in the BMW in the past. Stefan Aust, who also scored a victory in his category at the highlight of the season, the 24-Hour Race, in the Z4 M Coupe last year, and Andreas Weishaupt will try their best to be as successful as in the previous year.
Team Principal Rainer Dörr is confident about the new season at the Nürburgring: “With our participation in the FIA GT Series we will compete at an international level for the first time in our 15th season. Nevertheless, both the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring and the 24-Hour Race will continue to be important to us. Considering that we are the only McLaren dealer in the world who also engages in motorsports, we intend to continue to show our customers what McLaren sports cars combined with the know-how of Dörr Motorsport are capable of.”
